Conceptual or visionary architecture meets advanced technology to bring about a thriving, self-sustaining urban civilization. Every architectural detail in Auratopia is based on and integrated with feasible and proven technological systems and design.
Although this genre of architecture is dismissively regarded as utopian and unpractical, it remains significant as a guiding force, and all elements of Auratopia have been conceived and developed to be exactly that.
The architecture of Auratopia does not use the storyline as an excuse to exist. Much to the contrary, it's the reason for the story to have taken birth. If you find any of these designs "cool", you'll be happy to know that the possibility of our future generations living in such environments is well heeled in practical vision - where we wisely unify world resources and create an inevitable utopia.
AURATOPIA's design consists of floating human-made island cities which are five miles in diameter with a mountain-like super-structure rising to a mile in height at the center. Each city acts as a self-sufficient urban organism with an integrated structure and infra-structure.
Below the ground level of the surrounding island-structure there are robotics industries, warehouse spaces, and commercial centers. These vast areas are illuminated by large glass domes, and a system of reflected light-wells. In the waters around and below the floating city, there are underwater farms, fish hatcheries, living capsules, and community areas. The ecologically designed city also utilizes ocean currents, tides, and thermal energy. On the circular island landscape there are food farms, solar farms, lakes, rivers, parks, forests, sports arenas, and recreation areas. A completely integrated, and technically innovative, transportation system moves people and supplies effortlessly around the eco-island and into the city structure. The experience is like traveling in a dream.
The mile high structure, located in the center of the island, consists of eight massive concrete vertical forms sloping to a peak. This is the core of the open mountain-like structure. Eight circular areas span the core perimeter and a larger circular area spans across the center of the core. The circular areas vary in size and distance between them as they ascend to the peak. A utility matrix system is attached to the super-structure. This system contains plumbing, electrical and communication conduits, mechanical ducts, pneumatic service tubes, and service elevators. Vertical transportation tubes are positioned in the center of the core and a spiral transportation system threads from the bottom to the top of the core structure. The lower one-third section of the primary structure is open-air and filled with a variety of gardens, while the upper windy portion is enclosed in glass.
AURATOPIA is diversity. Throughout the super-structure there are residential areas for individuals, couples, and families; commercial centers with offices, schools, stores, theaters, and health clubs; medical clinics, public buildings, plazas, play areas and promenades. All areas are easily accessible by the internal transportation system, consisting of moving walkways, transport capsules, and pneumatic glass elevators. Walking or traveling through the city is convenient, safe, and aesthetic. Consequently, citizens will be socially interactive and share a rich sense of community.
AURATOPIA is adaptable. Prefabricated structures and modules can be easily plugged into the appropriate areas and quickly connected to the utility matrix. The environment can be changed as needed without having to alter the basic mega-structure.
As time goes by, the mega-structure will become more beautiful, its gardens and vegetation
more lush, and the surrounding landscape will be a grand old park. Auratopia is an environment that manifests the harmony of nature, humanity, and technology, with a great new civilization set to thrive through the centuries to come.
